JOHN HEFLIN, LCSW


Mr. Heflin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked in the social work/ behavioral health field since 1993. He utilizes a cognitive-behavnaioral treatment approach known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which attempts to increase psychological flexibility through the practice of mindfulness, acceptance, values construction, and committed action. His approach can be effective in changing the relationship with unpleasant internal experiences (thoughts, feelings, memories, urges, etc.) and promoting action in the service of valued living. His interests include working with individuals (16y/o- 85+ y/o) struggling with life transitions and obstacles to living a meaningful, purposeful, and engaged life. During his career, he has provided services in both outpatient and inpatient settings treating a broad range of presenting problems including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety and substance abuse. Before moving to Knoxville, he worked as an Addiction Specialist at the Penn State Center for Counseling and Psychological Services.

IRISH HINTON, LPC

Irish Hinton is a Licensed Professional Counselor Mental Health Service Provider with over 17 years of experience in the mental health field. Her clinical experience has included both inpatient and outpatient settings. She has treated various behavioral health concerns across the lifespan including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, mood issues, trauma, grief, life changes, adjustment issues, and stress. She currently provides individual counseling to clients ages 19 and up. Hilary is a licensed clinical social worker with over 13 years experience treating children, adolescents, and families with a variety of behavioral health concerns, in a wide range of settings, and using multiple evidence-based models of treatment. Hilary has been developing her work especially in the areas of adolescents- stress, anxiety, depression, peer issues, family issues, identity questions, as well as maternal mental health- women/couples experiencing infertility, issues that might impact pregnancy, and postpartum disorders. John McClure is a Clinical Psychologist who has been licensed to practice in Tennessee for over 25 years.  He received his training in the clinical psychology program at the University of Mississippi and the clinical internship consortium program of the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (Memphis), and the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. He has extensive experience in neurocognitive rehabilitation (the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center) and in the private practice of psychology. SEANNA JONES, LPC

Seanna Jones is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Tennessee and Georgia. She received her M.S.,Ed. In Counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in 2010. Seanna has experience in the community mental health, employee assistance program, private practice and domestic violence shelter settings working with individuals ages 6+. She works with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, phase of life changes and job-related stressors. Seanna’s therapeutic approach can incorporate cognitive behavioral, Internal Family Systems, short-term solution-focused, play and art interventions. Nicole Shepherd is a licensed professional counselor who works to cultivate a warm and goal focused relationship with her clients. Nicole has been working as a therapist in a variety of residential and outpatient settings since 2012, serving those who have struggled with severe and persistent mental health needs. DR. JANA ARWOOD

Dr. Jana Arwood was born and raised in Texas, then Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. She graduated from Quillen College of Medicine East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee with a Medical degree. She received her post-graduate training in General Psychiatry from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Arwood has practiced General Psychiatry in the greater Knoxville area since 1988.

HANNAH BRADEN, PMHNP

Hannah Braden is a dual certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2015 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2018. She has experience in caring for patients across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management to patients 18 years and older. Her areas of focus include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and attention deficit disorder. She is passionate about reducing the stigma of mental health treatment and making her patients feel heard and supported. Leah Hutchison is an ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) board certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Leah received her Associates degree in Nursing in 2002 and received a Master of Science in Nursing from Southern Adventist University in 2020. Leah has experience in treating mental illness across the lifespan and currently sees clients ages 18 and over. Deborah Rowlands is a licensed professional counselor and a certified rehabilitation counselor in practice since December of 2000. Deborah has worked in community mental health centers, alcohol and drug abuse treatment facilities, the school system, and most recently, in private practice for the last nine years. Scott Baymiller, M.D.

Scott Baymiller, M.D, is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in the field of medication management for the treatment of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.  He graduated medical school at the University of Tennessee and completed his residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.  He has been on faculty at multiple universities and has worked in inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, and community mental health settings.  He has also served as medical director of multiple psychiatric hospitals.  He emphasizes that current medications can be very helpful for symptom improvement, when used with other types of therapy and life adjustments.

Rena Arwood is a licensed counselor, receiving her Master’s degree from Carson Newman University and gaining experience in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential therapy opportunities. Alison Carlew is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant. Alison received her Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology (BCMB) from The University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2016. Alison earned her Master of Science from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2017 and a Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies from South College in 2020. Alison specializes in medication management of a wide range of psychiatric conditions including, depression, bipolar and mood disorders, anxiety, and ADD/ADHD for adults and children. She has experience in a variety of specialties including, Family Medicine, Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, as well as inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. Patricia Proctor, LPC/MHSP

Trish is a Licensed Professional Counselor designated in Tennessee as a Mental Health Service Provider and Approved Supervisor. Her experience in the mental health and educational fields began in 1976. She has worked in multiple settings including both short-term and residential in-patient; community mental health; therapeutic foster care; elementary, middle, and high schools; and crisis response. In addition, she volunteered in disaster mental health with the American Red Cross and was privileged to respond to such events as Tropical Storm Debbie, Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy, and both the 2010 and 2011 tornadoes in Tennessee and Alabama.

Trish initially entered the mental health field as a music therapist and has had extensive training and experience in play therapy, art therapy, ABA therapy, and therapeutic massage. Her passions include helping those newly diagnosed with such “disorders” as autism spectrum, ADHD, PTSD, mood and psychotic issues, and anxiety both understand and learn to live with themselves and the world around them. One of her greatest joys is to be able to walk with those who are striving to find the answers then seek to be able to live their lives to the fullest and not need her anymore.

Trish holds Bachelors of Science degrees in Music Therapy and Music Education and Master’s degrees in Special Education and Community Counseling from Tennessee Tech and the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. She lives in Chattanooga with her husband David and their three cats and one dog. She enjoys spending as much time as possible with their eight grandchildren, singing with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera chorus, and watching her garden grow.

Vanessa Freeman, MD

Dr. Freeman grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and returned home to practice medicine. She received her Medical Degree from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine and completed her General Psychiatry Residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where she was Chief Resident. Dr. Freeman spent an additional year in Arkansas to subspecialize in Forensic Psychiatry. She is a Board Certified Psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and substance use disorders. She has experience with children, adolescence, adults, and geriatrics, and she values both pharmacologic and therapeutic modalities for treatment. Laila was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Tennessee in 2009 and her master’s degree in Social Work in 2011. Laila has worked with adolescents in foster care, residential treatment, and in school systems. She has also worked with men and women in our criminal justice system, as well as pregnant and postpartum women working to overcome substance abuse disorders. For the past three years, Laila has worked mostly with women overcoming perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as pregnancy loss and fertility treatments. She is a member of Postpartum Support International, an organization that increases awareness about the emotional changes women experience during pregnancy and postpartum.
